Most MC-60 mikes had an internal wiring error in the mike itself that caused
erratic operation, squeals, and bad sound. If you run a wire from the case
of the mike to the shield wire that is inside the plug that goes into your
radio, the audio will short out if you have this problem. Sometimes you can
make this test by shorting the outside of the mike to the case of the stand
or the case of your radio. With this problem, the shield and hot audio wire
are reversed on the plug at the bottom of the mike inside the mike. (not the
stand) The
diagram even shows this error.

When all is correct, Pin 1 is used for the hot mike audio and pin 7 is used
for the mike audio ground. (shield) Most of these mikes had pins 1 and 7
reversed internally. The best fix is to correct the wiring error in the mike
itself.

To fix the problem, heat the base of the MC-60 so the glue is softened and
the connector will un-screw from the mike shell.

This problem does NOT occur with the MC-50.
