Brian,

The Heil Proset has two phone plugs.  As you say, one is larger than the 
other.

Your Kenwood Ts-850S should have an 8 pin microphone connector and a 1/4 
inch headphone connector.  The appropriate Heil adapter therefore would be 
the AD-1-K8.  See http://www.heilsound.com/amateur/ad-1.htm

Heil's headsets are essentially universal.  You simply purchase the 
appropriate adapter for your radio.
