[Kenwood] RE: best all round rig

I'm may be, pending hearing from a technician, in need of a new
fixed-location rig. My budget is limited and I will go with an older used
rig. My operation is SSB rag-chew and I am used to pretty good receivers.

Does anyone care to offer any thoghts on the TS-450S? (a built-in antenna
tuner is not particularly important to me).

True, but once the '102 relays are replaced you have a very fine rig.
It is similar to having to replace the band switch coupling in every '830,
cleaning/soldering the band switch rivets and putting internal tooth washers
and a separate ground wire on the AVR board. Once you are done you have a
fine rig that requires minimum future maintenance.
