Ahoy, Stew and all... I used a 1/4 inch ID brass barrel coupler in my
TS-530SP when that happened. It was not easy to install, but probably
no more difficult than the Kenwood replacement part would have been. It
has worked well since and will never break. The trick is to get the
bandswitch wafers in the final cage re-aligned with those in front,
since you will have turned the bandswitch wondering what happened.
Later I ordered two of the Kenwood teflon couplers and have them as
spares when / if that happens again in my other Kenwood rigs. 73, Mike
