[Kenwood] Ts 570DG fails to power up.

Regarding who is responsible, I would say it depends on how it was advertised.  Did the seller list it as being functional, or at least that it won't be DOA?  If so, then he should take some responsibility for it, since it arrived "deader than the proverbial doorknob".

On the other hand, if he was selling it "untested" or "as-is" (no promises or guarantees), then you took a chance and lost, unfortunately.  I don't think the seller is responsible for it in that case, although if he knew it wasn't working he should have disclosed that.  Just my opinion.

Has anyone seen a 570 DG fail to power up?

Is it a common problem?

I just received one(which I bought for my dad) which is deader than the 
proverbial doorknob.

No apparent damage to boxes, it was packed well by the Ham whom  I bought it 
from.

I didn't want to open it up until we come to some agreement on how to 
proceed, but he is already saying it is my problem.
My position is that the seller is responsible UNTIL it arrives safely and 
functional(I have taken a few back which were D.O.A. but working when sent)

I never made it into the house with it, hooked it up to my station in the 
garage, and  no go!   (and NO I did not hook it up backwards-I even used my 
ts 2000 power cable in the house.....2000 works fine, 570 is dead.)

I just wondered if it was a common thing.

Can these reflector messages be searched?  I cant figure how to do it.
