[Kenwood] TS-830S Shaft Coupler

Wonder if anyone has come up with a better replacement
shaft coupler for band switch on the TS-830 (universal
coupler P/N D22-0402-05). I recently acquired a radio
that has a damaged coupler (cracked). I know that this
has been very common. My other 830 has never had this
problem (yet). I'd like to replace this with a better
type of shaft coupler. I imagine that the shaft is
metric so any SAE part would have to be modified. Any
info appreciated before I order the replacement
Kenwood part.
