[Kenwood] Kenwood TS950SDX battery...

I have owned my TS950SDX for almost a year.  In that time it has worked
flawlessly.  However, even though the previous owner said the battery
was fine, I feel it is time to check it for myself.

First of all, where is the battery located and what is the proper voltage?
Secondly, is the battery replacement  as formable as I have told and should
be done only by a professional?  Lastly, even with a battery replacement
will this potential leakage problem be an ongoing issue?
