Mike,
I would recommend a 250 and 500 in the 8.8 slots and a 500 in the 455 slot
for cw and digital modes.
Cascaded 500's (or Inrad 400's) are nice. Cascaded 250's are a bit too
narrow.
The ssb filter is less necessary in my opinion, but if you want it, go with
it and 500/500 for cw - so the vbt is symmetrical.

I'd like to solicit opinions on how to make the best use of the three
available filter slots in the TS 850. My interest is in CW contesting and
DXing, but I have never owned a SSB filter in my life. Seems like the 1/2
punch of 500/250 Hz makes sense for CW, but which IF should the narrow
filter be installed in? What would be the best combination for CW only and
for CW as the primary mode with one SSB filter?
