I wish I did know how to change the TS-2000's s-meter calibration.  This
topic comes up frequently on the TS-2000 reflectors I subscribe to, usually
as a question "Why does my s-meter read so much lower than the one on my
ICOM rig?"  I don't recall ever seeing info on how to boost the readings.

I have seen quite a few posts about the fact there is no "standard" for
microvolts per S-unit, but there used to be an informal agreement and the
TS-2000 seems to be designed for that informal standard.  But apparently
most other manufacturers today have designed their s-units to read higher
than that.  I suppose they hope that some hams will think the radio with the
higher-reading s-meter will think the receiver is more sensitive.

To be honest, in a QSO if I read a guy as S5 and he tells me I'm 10 over, I
will often add a few s-units in my report back to him.  After all, it is
only useful for comparing two signals with each other that are received on
the same antenna and radio, and there really is no formal standard
definition of an s-unit.   In other words, by itself, it doesn't mean
anything.
