[Kenwood] TS-850 READOUT

I have a TS-850 and the readout just goes out for a period of time then comes 
back on.....I have checked the ground lugs on the back of the display but it 
had no effect....It may go out for 30 mins to an hour then come on and stay on 
for the evening or it may be out in 5 mins.....got a mind of its 
own.....Anyone out there have a sugestion.....Receive and transmit are not effected.....
