[Kenwood] D700A & Garmin GPS III question

I may have purchased the wrong cable.

I WANTED a cigar lighter power to the round plug on the back of the Garmin GPS III.
and then the old style round plug also supplies Data In & Data Out to a 2.5mm 3 conductor 
plug which goes to the jack on the D700A.

What I GOT was a cigar lighter power to the round plug that fits on the back of the Garmin 
GPS III and a cable that runs from the cigar lighter plug with a 9 pin rs232 type female.

Can anyone tell me if the GPS data in and data out are also on the D700 rs232 connector?
If so, which pins?
