Hello All,
I am having trouble getting my TS 2000 X to take firmware update version
1.04.
First of all, the computer, the com port, the cable, and radio work because
I tested them with a kantronics pk 96, and then I tested them again with
the built in TNC on the radio. I was able to access the built in TNC when
the letters "PKT
PC" were visible on the upper right hand corner of the
display, as per Menu item 55. The letter "PC" showed up with I had hyper-
terminal running and they left when I terminated that program.
I have fully reset the radio over and over. I even printed out the help
file and read it over and over.
Switch S 1 is in the normal mode, ie, toward the back of the rig.
Here is what happens:
A) I double click on the ts2000udpate.exe program.
B) Up comes a box to select the com port, and com 1 is the the as above.
C) Click OK.
D) I get a beep and another box which says:
To start communication between the PC and TS-2000:
1. Switch off the ts-2000 power. (Which means turn off the rig
and the power supply.)
2. Connect the ts-2000 to the PC using an Rs-232C cable.
(simple)
3. Switch ont he ts-2000 power. (Which means turn on the
power supply but not the rig,
I gather.)
When you are ready, click OK to continue.
OK Cancel
E) I click OK.
F) What I now get back in the first window, ie, the one that mentions
selecting a com port, with com 1 showing as before. It appeared to be
going around in circles.
G) Now I am getting something different but still wrong, as follows:
To set the TS-2000 to firmware writing mode:
1. Remove the power supply cable from the TS-2000.
2. Remove the TS-232C cable from the TS-2000.
3. Remove the bottom cover.
4. Reconnect the ts-232c cable to the TS-2000.
5. Reconnect the power supply cable to the TS-2000.
When you are ready, click OK to start writing the new firmware.
It takes about 7 minutes to write the new firmware.
OK Cancel
H) After I click OK, nothing happens for a few seconds and then a message
comes back and says "Could not detect the ts-2000.
OK
I) If now I move that box out of the way, I see a message in red telling
me not to touch the key board or the mouse during the update.
J) I have been over and over this, even fully reseting the cpu, all to
no avail.
So, if anyone has an idea, I would sure like to hear about it.
