By the way, to clarify, I am referring to the use of an AUTOMATIC tuner
that uses the tuner connector on the back of the radio.

Well, what about with an external 200 watt (or larger) tuner??  I would
like to be able to conveniently use it at the full power level I paid
for...  It would be easy enough for them to add a menu option to allow
either 100 or 200 watts when using an external tuner.
