[Kenwood] TS-820S VFO Instability

I have a TS-820S that was given to me as part of the estate of a good friend.

It has not been used in about 8 years.

I have worked around most of the problems but there is a problem with the
VFO where the frequency goes crazy if you turn or sometimes even touch the
tuning knob. The frequency will settle down after a few seconds. It is
almost like the VFO is microphonic.

In a Kenwood service note they mention something about adjusting a
tensioning spring but I have not found any information on how to do this or
what to adjust.

Also looking for a source for the 100 uf 500 V electrolytics used in the
820. Lots of caps rated at 450V but none at 500.

Has anyone run into the VFO problem and if so, do you have a solution.

Joe
