[Kenwood] ts-850

can anyone help an old 88 year old who has a ts850 and thinks he has
somehow or other disabled his microphone from transmission..similar  
microphone
 from same rig has the same effect. is there a button or
multi button function somewhere on the front panel that he may have  
inadvertently
activated thereby muting his microphone??? he has daily skeds on the 40  
mtr bands
and is one of his lifelines at his age to keep in touch, and is therefore  
missing
his daily contacts.
i do not have a ts850 so i cannot help him. he does not have internet  
facility
hope someone may have ideas
