I went with the 50 amp dual meter Astron, long time ago.
I used it with my KENWOOD TS-50 when it first came out in 1992.

Worked great for 5 years or so..They Astrons are of good value. However for
20 amp or greater loads, I like industrial quality. The 50 amp astron did
not have a great crow bar circuit on it.

After a few shorts over the years, the voltage regulator opened up. I
almost dropped dead as I saw that plum of smoke waffling out of the TS-50!

13 VOLT equipment does not like 17-20 V unreg V.

    $255 REPAIR......OUCH! THE RIG COST $759?

THE BIG LESSON; I ONLY USE SUPPLIES THAT I CAN HOOK THE RIG UP TO.
TRANSMIT INTO A DUMMY LOAD FOR 40 MINUTES, THE SUPPLY SHOULD STILL BE COOL!
I ALSO SHORT CIRCUIT AS MUCH AS I WANT.
MY 75 AMP SWITCHING SUPPLY POWERS UP MY TS-850 AND HARRIS U1446.
The crowbar puts any other power supply to shame!
