Kevin,

I have had display problems that were easily fixed.  They were not with that
radio.  If the display is fed with one of those very thin ribbon cables,
almost paper, with the connector that has the "lift up" type of latch, you
may be able to "fix" it.  Resetting the connector usually doesn't work as
the connector points sit in the same location that was causing the problem
in the first place.  Take a pair of scissors and cut off just a bit, less
than a 1/16 of an inch and place the cable back in the connector and lock it
in.  This gives the points of the connector a new place to bite into.  I
bought a new HT because of this and then decided  I had nothing to lose and
made the cut.  FIXED.
