[Kenwood] TS-830M ...yes...M

The 830M was not marketed in the U. S. 830S/830M differences were not a
big deal. Need a 6KHz AM filter, a board with some discrete components
and a relay or two, and some rewiring of the "wide" CW position. Service
manual has the schematic and board layout for the board. Board is no
longer available from Kenwood. Gives you about 20/25 watts of  AM output.
Since the 830 was designed with SSB in mind, AM audio winds up very
restricted so now you have to go in that area and make a bunch of mods.
Basically not worth the time or money. Want AM in a late 70's or 80's
Kenwood rig; buy a pair of 599D Twins, a 930, 940, or 850. 830M rigs pop
up on Ebay from time to time.
