[Kenwood] TS-940SAT Clock Problem

I have the aforementioned that works perfect in all respects except the 
clock display.

I can reset it with the little switch behind the front panel and it will 
work correctly for a short time but go back to two lines of vert. bars 
soon. I've also check the nearby connectors for tightness and cleaned.

Did find a repair bulletin on the net but didn't seem applicable to this 
particular behavior.

Anyone experienced this?
