[Kenwood] Reading a serial number

The Kenwood method that I have seen always work is:

First digit minus 2 = last digit of year, you supply the decade
Second and third digit the month
Remainder the sequence in that month

Example:  80512345
8 -> 8-2 = 6 which would be 1996 for a newer radio (1986 older)
05 = May
12345 = 12345th made that month

Those radios I think are all newer than 1995 so would be the last 10 years
(1995-2004).
