I would not risk it, use a relay box. My rule of thumb is if its a solid state output rig(except for tie Drake TR7) use a box. The cost is less than shipping each way back to a repair center for your radio. The new linears I think address this but theSB-220 and all my old amps here dont. 73 Mark W0NCL
