Conrad, I have the Alpha 87A and use it with the Kenwood TS-480, remotely controlled over a 12 mile distance using a 2.4 gig link. The only connection between the TS-950 and the Alpha 87A should be about 55 watts of drive and the PTT keying line. 73- Glenn VE6GC
