[Kenwood] TS570 and Sky Command

On the Kenwood website there is a manual for sky
command which describes how to use the Sky Command
function with a TS570 or TS870, 2 TH79AKSS Dual Band
HTs, and an I/O device.  Has anyone tried this method
out?  How well does it work, and where can you find
this I/O device?  Seems like a nice (maybe cheaper)
alternative to the TS2000 and D7AG sky command setup
