Hi Jeff,
Please check the screen grid swich (SG) on back of the
radio. It should be set to on.
Sometimes it gets turned off when moved or if the
owner puts the rig in storage. Also keeps the kids
from transmitting !
Was the radio in storage ? A little deoxit on the
switches can help. Also a few drops of oil in the fan
bearing.
If you need a manual at no cost,
http://www.mods.dk in the kenwood section.

Subject: [Kenwood] Inherited TS-820S
Have inherited a TS-820S from SK WB4PAV. Problems include:
1) Unstable DG-1
2) No output when mike is keyed. Finals? Or is there something unique to
TS-820S?
I would like to bring this up as a tribute to Don, who was a very dedicated ham.
Thanks.
Jeff, W4JHD
