Mike,

Use DetoxIT 5% - it has a mineral oil based lubricating compound
and a drying agent in addition to the de-oxidizing solution.

The 100 % DetoxIT is intended for heavily ozidized switches and
connectors. It does not have a drying agent and should be wiped
from the switch immediately after cleaning with a lint free swab.
If 100 % is used in excess (and not completely wiped away) it
can penetrate pourous insulating materials and cause them to be
conductive. If 100 % is necessary - wipe all away immediately
after the cleaning/deoxidizing process, let dry overnight, and then use the
5 % as the finishing touch, since it has the lubricant your switch needs.

WD-40 dissolves the material the bandswitch is made from. Use at your own
risk.
