[Kenwood] TS-830S age

Larry,

To my knowledge, the TS-830 came out around mid-1980.  I bought one of the 
first ones in early 1981, and the s/n is 1050737.

Around 1989 I learned that the 830 and 530 were discontinued.  I remember 
scurrying around to pick up a used VFO230 before while they were still 
available.

Read the archives for an explanation of the Kenwood s/n system.  Everytime 
I see it explained, it gives me a headache!

I been told the 830S came out in the 1970's. Does any one know exactly what 
year they did come out and when they quit producing them ? Is there a way 
to date them by serial # ?
