At the moment I have neither a receiver that covers 5MHz or a scope. I
can probably dig up both.

First I'm going to do a bit of cleaning on the sockets and the switch in
the socket and see what that does.=20

To me it sounds as if you have no VFO RF-signal out of it .
I think the output frequency is always the same range and=20
it covers the same range on every band which is selected.
If I do not remember wrong it may be around 5MHz.
Do you have an RX that you can use to listen to it or
have an oscilloscope to see the signal ?
