[Kenwood] VFO-240 on TS-530S problem

Yes - the VFO is controlling frequency when I have it set to RMT. The
TS-530s digital display tracks the VFO's analog display very closely
tuning through the entire range on the VFO.

I will pull the bottom cover off the 530 and check and clean the VFO
socket and switch this evening and see what happens. I know the 530s
bandswitch was miserably dirty when I bought it - finally after repeated
cleanings (and fighting with the miserable plastic linkages that come
loose) on it I have most bands working fine.

Thanks!

OK .... that's good. I use to own both an 830 and a VFO-240 but=20
both are now long gone. If frequencies are OK, and your book says=20
they are, then it should work.
When you plug the VFO in there are is a switch which changes several=20
things as I recall. Since you're seeing the frequency come up OK and=20
can control the frequency with the VFO, I would look at the switch=20
located at the 530's VFO input socket. You might even spray some=20
contact cleaner on it and do a "plug-unplug-plug........" for several=20
times.
Nothing should change in the signal and/or audio except if the VFO=20
threw it into a far different frequency area. This is to say that if=20
both rig and VFO are set to the same frequency, it should be pretty=20
transparant when you plug the VFO in.

Can you actually verify that the VFO in controlling frequency, i.e.,=20
when it's plugged in and you turn the VFO knob, the rig's frequency=20
changes?
