Mike, 

I think that you are correct. I have two of these microphones
and both of them are MC-60A's. They are stamped as you
describe, with only the MC-60 model number. That does not
change the fact that they are the -A model which indicated 
that they have the built-in preamps, which are totally useless
for SSB service.

Why is it that instead of researching this issue, the buyer
goes off the deep end? This kind of reaction seems to
happen more often lately. Only one of the many reasons
I tend to keep all my stuff...
