Dunno about a "bad smell" Jack, but one evening I thought the neighbors were
making Salmon steaks and had my appetite all stirred up! A few more minutes
and a few more long winded transmissions and I thought the salmon was being
served at my house! When the rig started to drop power and misbehave, I
found that the SWR had gone way high ( was raining outside). Next morning I
retuned the antenna and haven't had has pleasant salmon steak smell again!
73,
Ron

Subject: [Kenwood] Bad smell.
Hi All,
my TS 850 after many years of faultless performance has started to
emit a dreadful smell when in xmit mode.
My tech. has not been able to trace the source of this smell and no smoke is
emitted.
He has most manual info but not the inter-connection wiring of connections
between the boards, can anyone help? Any help as to what is causing this
smell or the inter-board wiring diagrams would be much appreciated.
He has just told me the rig has died and will not go into xmit mode !!
73 Jack.
