[Kenwood] Personal Opinion on mikes

Just a note: If you have a really flat mike (and there are lots out
there that are close to that, including some of Mr. Heil's) it makes
sense to me to use an equalizer to generate the sort of sound you
want.

I've always distrusted mikes with a built in rising characteristic or
whatever they call it. It makes me nervous, simply because you
can't reverse the built-in effect. Well, you can unboost it, and reequalize it.

But then, I'm pretty close to 100% cw. It don't make no never mind
to me. I must say that in such a narrow bandwidth as one finds in SSB,
I should think that it would be difficult to make dramatic differences,
short of cutting off low frequencies entirely or some such. I do think the
fellow with the RE-27 had the right idea, however badly put it was!

My two cents. Doesn't look so good on the screen.
