[Kenwood] TS570D to TS2000

I had a TS2000, but not a 570, but I'd guess the amp interface will be the
same, if you use one. I'm not sure about the KAM, etc.

I liked my TS2000- so much so, I'm probably going to buy another. You have
to understand that a lot of the people who complain about low SSB output
don't understand the difference between average and PEP output. Having said
that, I do think a few 2000s have arrived on our shores misaligned, because
there have been a few that actually had low output and a few that had
sensitivity issues. But if you read the ARRL review and compare the VHF/UHF
sensitivity numbers to those of the VHF/UHF multimode rigs out there, you'll
find that the TS2000 is as good or better than any of them. Again, I think a
lot of the complaints are from the "plug it in and it works" crowd, many of
whom don't understand that it's normal to run a preamp when you're doing
weak signal work on VHF/UHF.

I've said this before and I'll say it again: The TS2000 is one of the most
unfairly maligned and underrated radios ever made. It has great audio; a
better receiver than the TS870, the TenTec Jupiter/Pegasus, the Kachina and
many others; an endless list of features (including full computer control
and user configurable DSP TX/RX filters) and it covers 12 or 13 bands! For
the price ($1600-1700) it's the best deal around. No, it doesn't have the
receiver of a TS950SDX, FT1000D or Omni, but it holds it's own, even in the
face of strong signals. I still contend that most people who rag on the
TS2000 have never used one and base their comments on the fact that they
don't like the way it looks.
