William,

My father gave me one of those a few years back, before I was a ham,
He did not give me a mic. and he told me not to turn on the heater
switch. I enjoyed listening to it for years untill I got my call
Tech. call. Then I studied and got my tech plus and and a mic. for
the 520! a few years and a about 200 + DXCC's later I still enjoy my
520.

I understand that you may not have a call-sign yet but that is no
reason not to listen to the 520. Did you know that in Belarusa, to
become a Ham you must have confirmed 100 SWL cards, pass a CW test and
a therory thest? Sure glad I live in the USA! all I had to do was pass
a very easy test.

For now just hook up a "long a$$ wire" adj the drive knob for the
loudest signal and take notes.

operate a SSB amatuer radio shack using this rig.
Thanks, and any other useful(and friendly) advice will be appreciated.
