 This goes against what everyone says, but I just wired mine up and 
 plugged it in. Sounded OK, had enough gain, but I like the Heil HC-4 or  
HC-5 better.
 People say the D-104 impedance has to be matched, but I've never worried
 about it, and I've used the D-104 on seven or eight post-1984 rigs (I
 didn't stay with it on the 850, though.)
