Well, as some of you have been following the thread on using the TS570 with
Mixw for CW keyed via CAT, it does work, but with some minor problems. First,
It appears to only work here when I remove both the key plugs from the jacks
in the rear of the rig. If either the manual or keyer jacks are in place, we
only get xmt/rx relay switching, but not rf output. Thats a bit maddening, as
I want to be able to CQ automatically, for DX or test QSOs, and then use the
rigs internal keyer, or an external keyer to the "manual cw" port. Cant do it.
Others have reported the same thing.
The other minor (could be major for some) problem is that I hear no monitor
audio, just clicking of the rx/tx relay for each character sent. Thats
maddening to one who is used to hearing both sides of a conversation.
I dont seem to have a schematic in my instruction manual, so havent had a
chance to look at the CW input jacks on that, as one or two others have
described a possible reason for this. It would be good to hear from the designer, if
anyone speaks Japanese and can converse with him, and report his thinking on
this. Meantime, it works, but I have already had one instance of putting the
iambic paddle back in so I could chat on it with somone, versus using the
keyoard.
If anyone has suggestions/explanations please feel free to use these groups
to advise the rest of us. Thats what they are for.
Thanks to all who made suggestions, did their own tests, researched the
methodology, etc. Makes these groups truly worthwhile.
