[Kenwood] Compact "Kitchen Sink" Mobile Rig?

I gotta tell you guys. I bought a TS-2000 and have been searching in vain
for some QRM strong enough to blow past the DSP filters. I even tuned
carefully across the 160m contest trying to find some weakness but all in
vain. All this hoopla about IMD, intercept points, etc....seems to pale in
the light of reality. Maybe things would be different on a test bench with
generators and scopes but maybe things aren't as bad on the bands as they
are on the bench.
I've had the FT-1000mp, Omni VI, TS-870 and I can't say that one
outperformed the other in the selectivity business however I did find the
Mp's hissing IF stage to be very annoying, the Omni's terrible sounding cw
note to be embarrassing and the 870....well it was fine but the 2000 has a
lot more to offer plus the receive audio has been improved. There is no hiss
whatsoever in the 2000's headphones, cw noise reduction is greatly improved
and QSK is much smoother. Yes it is a goofy looking thing and I don't care
for yellow displays and a real S meter would be welcomed but nothing is
perfect. Besides, I usually use the TS-930 anyway. It's got a pair of 400hz
INRADS so it's rather broad compared to the 2000 but it's still got some
advantage over anything I've had when it comes to tireless cw operation.
When I figure out what it is, I'll be glad to report it.
