[Kenwood] TM-742A

I have a TM-742a which has served me well over 10 years but is showing
serious signs of age. Over time the front control pannel started acting up
and now the momentary buttons are not working, the LCD display no longer
lights up, but most recently it would always be in demo mode even after
shutting this feature off and also doing a hard reset. Now the latest
problem is that even though it powers up I have no control of it at all and
the display is doing all sorts of funky things.

The LCD lights and push button problems is not a major issue, I have this
one retired for my base unit and I can use the mike to control all the
features. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can look at ? Maybe it is
a common problem ?
