If your Kenwood is like my 530S, your 10 meter and 15 meter trouble =
might just be a dirty band switch. Try cleaning it and see if you =
suddenly get output..
Dunno the answer to your question - I see they recommend 28.5 for =
neutralizing in the manual and the service guide for the 530S. I assume =
there must be some logic to it. I have new finals for mine that I will =
install once I borrow somebody's 10 meter rig so I can check signal =
strength for neutralizing.

Subject: [Kenwood] neutralizing question, TS-830S
Hi All,
Time has come on the ol' TS830S to change the finals.. The originals
held up great til now..
Question: The book says to tune to 28.5 mc for neutralizing with the=20
new tubes but this rig has no output on 10 meters (nor 15 meters) Hasn't =
had for years.. Never looked into because I don't care about those=20
bands anyway... hi Anyway, what is special about neutralizing on=20
28.5mc ?
Can't it be neutralized on any frequency ... like maybe 14.2 ?
Just curious... Tnx & 73, Les, W=D8OJH
