[Kenwood] Myth of the "Gold Edition" TS-830s

I wish someone would do the same for the 850.  I was recently told that 
late s/n 850's are more valuable because they have all the factory mods 
installed.  I've looked at the list of factory mods, and there's nothing 
there that's any big deal, in my opinion.  How about it, 850 experts.  Is 
there a significant difference between late model 850's and their older 
cousins?  If so I for one would like to know what it is.
