[Kenwood] Kenwood TS-420S output power

Hello all,

    First let me apologize if this sort of question has already been =
asked.  I went through the archives first, to see if I could find an =
answer, but no luck so far.

I am running a Kenwood TS-430S with a 40m inverted vee and an Astron =
RS-20A (16 amps cont./20 int.) power supply.  I also have been using =
either an MFJ-941D or E tuner to work other bands.

The problem I am having is output power.  With a properly tuned antenna, =
and appropriate mic gain, I cannot get anything about 5-10 watts.  Going =
to AM and driving up the carrier won't get me more than 5 watts.  IC =
reading goes from zero to about 2 and no higher.

I have been able to get decent signals into other northwestern states =
(I'm operating from Washington) as well as some mid-atlantic stuff.  So =
I am getting something out there, just not a lot.

Through process of elimination, I have taken the antenna, power supply, =
and antenna tuners off my list.  Which leaves, of course, the TS-430S.  =
My best guess, based on the symptoms, is that perhaps the final =
transistor(s) have gone bad.

Any ideas?

I'm not inclined enough to be able to fix it, if this is the problem.  =
Any ideas on where it could be fixed?
