[Kenwood] Help Please...TS-850 Lost RX Audio

Strange occurrence (to me at least): listening to my 850, suddenly heard 
what sounded like a small relay chattering in the rig, lost RX audio. I 
switched the rig off/on several times to no apparent benefit, then RX audio 
restored, then went away again. I noticed On Air LED now remains dimly lit. 
The rig will key up & transmit, it just doesn't seem to be completely in RX 
mode.
Clues, anyone?
