I think you have to oil it and the problem will go away

Same feeling here if I got the radio, turned the knob to minimum resistance,
but very poor adhesion on the hard knob.
I removed the knob, put some oil to the centre, reassembled it, big
surprise: very very easy to turn it now. Poor adhesion now is not the
problem, because you need so little force to tune now. I adjusted back  to
harder resistance because the knob rans also, after you removed your
fingers.
