I'm using an antenna with my 6 that was discussed on the TH-F6A list:.  =
(You can check their archives for the thread).=20

Radio shack sells an SWL antenna which is 20 ft of #16 wire in a small =
plastic case that you unroll like a tape measure.  To connect it you can =
use the clamp that comes with it on your duckie (works quite well) or  =
make-up a PL-259/SMA connector.  I use it on my deck or at the beach but =
it's not too cool walking down the street trailing wire! =20

Several months ago, QST had an article on this topic which showed what =
looked like a powered duckie in the picture.  However, I was unable to =
contact the ham who wrote the article.  I, for one, would be interested =
in obtaining such an antenna.  The only other HF antenna I read about =
was an extendable 40 odd inch whip that _____ makes to use on Yaesu's FT =
817 QRP rig.  The problem there was the strain on the SMA connector.  =
(Also a thread on the 6 list).

With the RS antenna I can hear SW BC stns as well as WWV and ham =
requencies including remarkably good CW.  I also have the Comet 14 inch =
antenna which is good enough for me to reduce power on many local =
repeaters.  If anyone on the list hears about other ideas for HF =
antennas for the 6, please let me know.  The 6 is a remarkabley good rig =
and I listen AM,FM, TV and public service etc when I ride my bicycle.  =
If anyone would like my file of freqs for the Washington, DC area, let =
me know.   As a TS-940AT user, I enjoy the list.

I wonder if anyone else thinks that the TH-F6A seems
to have pretty lame receive outside of the ham bands.=20
It does OK on AM broadcast receive with its Ferrite
bar antenna, but other than that, the VX5R I had
before it receives TV, FM BC and the eternal word
network station on 5.825mhz much better, and that was
with the stock VX5R antenna, without the extension!  I
am using a Pryme RD9SMA 8 inch antenna on the F6A, so
don't know if that is causing problems.  I sure like
having 222 mhz and dual receive on the F6A, just wish
it would pick up the entertainment stuff better.=20
Anyone found a good antenna to use to pick up
shortwave, TV, and FM better?
