if you take the covers off and look at the bottom of the radio where the vfo 
knob comes thru the case.. you will see to little pots..if you turn these just 
alittle you will most likely fix the problem..the pots get dirty and lose 
contact..moving them back and forth will clean or make them make better 
contact...worked for me .same problem with 930 radios alot..
