Hi Jim

To work out year, first number is -2 (minus 2) for year ie: 7 would be 
1995, next two numbers are month *but not 01 for January* , 01 is April 
for start of Fiscal year, so if you had 712xxxx as serial number then it 
would be March 1996.

From the info I have the original bugs where only for the first few 
months of production then the eproms where re done, does anyone 
know when the 870S was introduced ?
