[Kenwood] TS-520S Speech Processor

Everything works fine, apparently, except on 15m.  There, if I pull out
the processing knob, I get noise in the headphones and very low, distorted
transmission.  Turn processing back off, no problem.

Any ideas why the audio stage would care what the RF stage is set to?
