[Kenwood] Loose VFO Tuning knob

For those of you who have experienced the loose Main VFO Tuning knob problem
here is what I have found out.

First of all, remove the rubber grip that encapsulates the main vfo.  It
just pulls straight out.  Look for the small hole towards the back of the
knob.  It has a 1/16 allen head screw resessed down inside that must be
loosened up.  Check to see if the knob has come forward or not.  If it has
move it back and retighten to see if this removes the wabble or knob
movement.  If it doesn't, remove the knob and then examine the shaft the
knob sits on.  At the back end there is a small gap.  This gap is reduced by
using a small c-clip between the gap area and then using a small pice of
light plastic and make another clip to fit in with the c-clip.

Place the knob back on and tighten securely.  Replace the rubber grip on the
vfo dial and check for wabble or movement.

You should find that the dial has now become firmed up and the vfo and LED
readout track one another again as it did from the factory.  Needlesstosay,
NO NEED to replace the encoder.

Hope this fixes your condition as it has mine.  Cost of this fix .$79 for a
c-clip vs $165.00 for an encoder that didn't need replaced.
