It is sending "CHECK". This indicates the tuner is having a problem. It is
usually the tuning caps having stuck in position. Remove the cover and
carefully wiggle the variable caps. Try changing bands and see if they move.
If so it should be fixed.

Subject: [Kenwood] AT-50 Operating question
I just bought a Kenwood TS-50 and AT-50 combo. The TS-50 is working fine
but the operation of the AT-50 is not clear. I received the manual for the
TS-50 but not for the AT-50.
I have the TS-50 connected to a 10 meter ASTRON antenna. I am getting a
good match at 28.3 MHz (<1.5:1 SWR).
When I connect the AT-50 and hit AT on the TS-50 the match is worse. When I
change the freq to 29.00 MHZ the AT light goes on the TS-50. There is no
mention of this behavior in the TS-50 manual. Just cannot figure out what
is going on. When I hit the AT button to re-tune to the new frequency I
here CW tones coming from the TS-50. My code reading is rusty but it sounds
like the letters "CSRNK".
Any Ideas would be appreciated.
Sincerely,
Jose Barandiaran - N5XFG
