[Kenwood] AT-50 Operating question

I just bought a Kenwood TS-50 and AT-50 combo.  The TS-50 is working =
fine but the operation of the AT-50 is not clear.  I received the manual =
for the TS-50 but not for the AT-50.

I have the TS-50 connected to a 10 meter ASTRON antenna.  I am getting a =
good match at 28.3 MHz (<1.5:1 SWR).

When I connect the AT-50 and hit AT on the TS-50 the match is worse.  =
When I change the freq  to 29.00 MHZ the AT light goes on the TS-50.  =
There is no mention of this behavior in the TS-50 manual.  Just cannot =
figure out what is going on.  When I hit the AT button to re-tune to the =
new frequency I here CW tones coming from the TS-50.  My code reading is =
rusty but it sounds like the letters "CSRNK".

Any Ideas would be appreciated.
