[Kenwood] TS850 Drift

Clif,

Thanks for the response.

I wasn't using a bug. I was using FSK mode in the RTTY contest. The PC,
contesting software and TNC were keying the TS850 directly.

Anyway, I thought about stray vibrations moving the knob, since it is set
with very light friction. So I engaged the F. Lock. However, the problem
continued.

NR1DX has suggested that RF may be getting into the "up/down" control lines
that a microphone with up/down buttons uses to control frequency. I don't
have an up/down mic (like the MC-60) attached ( I have a Heil), but maybe
that makes no difference. He suggests ferrites on the mic cord.

W1ZC suggests faulty -8 & +8 vdc regulators (7808s) on the main regulator
board.

Do you have any advice?

Thanks Jim W4LC

The side to side motion of the bug caused the knob to turn. Tighten the
friction setting...
